Vocal Europe is a Brussels-based Think-Tank dedicated to research and communication on Europe and its neighborhood: Iran, Israel, Russia, Turkey, and Western Balkans. Through research, communication campaigns, and policy events, it aims not only to support but also challenge European decision-makers at all levels to make informed decisions based on analysis, and providing a platform for engaging partners, stakeholders and citizens in EU policy-making. Vocal Europe’s Advisory Board is consist of distinguished members with experience and expertise in politics, diplomacy, foreign policy, media, and European affairs. As it hosts key political figures, former diplomats, academics, politicians, journalists and civil society representatives from different countries of our focus, the board brings together opinions and policy recommendations that Vocal Europe can work towards with policymakers in Brussels and in the countries of relevance. The board convenes at a biannual meeting in Brussels to discuss key challenges faced by the countries of focus for the board members and possible engagement with European Union institutions to address these concerns. Honorary ChairmanHenri Malosse Henri Malosse is a former president of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) and he is currently the honorary chairman of Vocal Europe. Board MemberDick RocheDick Roche is a former Irish Fianna Fáil politician who served as Minister of State for European Affairs from 2002 to 2004 and 2007 to 2011 and Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government from 2004 to 2007. Board MemberHakan Malmqvist Hakan Malmqvist is a retired Swedish Diplomat. He was ambassador of Sweden to Greece between 2008 to 2013. He also served as Ambassador of Sweden to NATO between 2014 to 2018. Board MemberMimoza Kusari-Lila Mimoza Kusari-Lila, chairwoman of the newest political party in Kosovo named, Alternativa. Mimoza is a member of Kosovo parliament which resulted from June 2017 national elections. She was the first and only woman mayor (of Gjakova) ever to be elected in Kosovo, position in which she served from December 2013 – July 2017. Prior to being a mayor, Mimoza served as a Deputy PM and Minister of Trade and Industry (Feb 2011 – October 2013), position which she resigned to run for a mayor. Mimoza holds an MBA from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh PA and was a recipient of State Department’s Ron Brown scholarship fund. She is married to Arben Lila and has two sons, Adri 13 and Edon 7. Board MemberH.E Ihor TurianskyiH.E. Ambassador Mr. Ihor M. Turianskyi has been on diplomatic service of the Ukrainian SSR and independent Ukraine from 1971 to 2007. He has the highest diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine since 1992. Board MemberDirk Rochtus Dirk Rochtus is an associated professor of International Politics and German History at the KU Leuven/Campus Antwerpen and a senior fellow at the Zentrum für Europäische Integrationsforschung (www.zei.de) of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn. He is former vice-chief of Cabinet of the Flemish Minister of Foreign Affairs (2005-2007). In 2007 he was awarded the 'Bundesverdienstkreuz' (Federal Cross of Merit) of the Federal Republic of Germany. Board MemberMilena Harito Dr. Milena Harito is a convinced European, French and Albanian citizen, digital transformation expert, former Minister of Innovation and Public Administration in Albania. Board MemberDaniel Pipes Daniel Pipes is a member of Vocal Europe's Advisory Board and is president of the Middle East Forum. His bi-weekly column appears regularly in the Washington Times and in newspapers around the globe. His special interests include the role of Islam in public life, Turkey, the Arab-Israeli conflict, and U.S. foreign policy. Board MemberRobert Ellis Robert Ellis is a senior commentator on Turkish affairs in the Danish and international press. He was earlier advisor to the Turkey Assessment Group in the European Parliament. Currently, he is a member of Vocal Europe's Advisory Board.
