As part of our podcast series supported by Science 14, we talked with Mr Urmas Paet, Vice-Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the European Parliament and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, about the effectiveness of the EU’s 2016 Global Strategy for Foreign and Security policy today in practice. The issues we touched upon were the concepts of strategic autonomy and principled pragmatism, a possible revised Global Strategy, using qualified majority voting for foreign policy, and whether or not the EU has what it takes to become a true global leader.
